Who we are, and how the evidence is built

FlyBack is an automated system for claiming flight cancellation compensation under Israel's Aviation Services Law. Instead of relying on what the passenger remembers, we sample the official Israel Airports Authority flight board and save every status change as a record with a timestamp and a file fingerprint. That is the difference between a claim and evidence.

Who is behind FlyBack

Itamar Avisris
Founder and operator of the service

FlyBack started with a simple question: why should a passenger have to prove to the airline what happened to their flight, when the official information is public and published in real time? The system was built to record the Ben Gurion flight board at the moment of the disruption, and to keep that record for the moment the passenger needs it.

I run the service, and I am the one who answers your messages. The legal entity is a VAT-registered sole proprietor in Israel; its full details, including the business number and address, are published in the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

Our method, in four steps

  1. 1. Regular sampling of the official board

We sample the Israel Airports Authority flight board on a regular schedule. The public board only shows a window of a few days, so anyone who does not save the data in real time loses it. We save it.

  2. 2. Every status change saved as a record

Every status change of a disrupted flight is saved as a separate, fingerprinted record. The fingerprint makes it possible to verify later that the data was not changed, and each record can be checked on its own.

  3. 3. Eligibility calculated against the law

Eligibility is calculated against the amounts and thresholds set in the law (₪1,530 / ₪2,450 / ₪3,670 by distance), including the exemption periods set by amendments to the law, and every calculation is saved so we can explain exactly what it is based on.

  4. 4. A demand that cites the law, and deadline tracking

The demand is sent in the passenger's name with the evidence pack, the sections of the law it relies on and the amount per passenger. From then the deadlines are counted: 21 days to refund the ticket price, 45 days to pay the compensation, followed by a reminder and escalation.

What we do not do

  • We do not promise a result. Eligibility depends on the circumstances, and the airline has exceptions it may try to prove.
  • We do not give legal advice and do not represent anyone in court. FlyBack is not a law firm.
  • We do not charge upfront, and we do not charge if no compensation was received.
  • We do not hold on to your money. The compensation goes into a dedicated FlyBack business bank account, and the balance is transferred to you within 7 business days with a detailed statement.
  • We do not hide the legal basis. It is published in our guides, including the points where the law is less generous than passengers expect.

The legal basis, in the open

All our demands are based on Aviation Services Law (Compensation and Assistance due to Flight Cancellation or Change of Conditions), 5772-2012. The amounts are updated every year, and we update them in our code together with the rules version. The sections, thresholds and exceptions are explained in full in our guides: Israel's Aviation Services Law explained, the full amounts and what to do after a rejection.

We publish the data we collect, in aggregate, on the page live cancellation data from Ben Gurion. Journalists and researchers are welcome to write to press@flyback.co.il.

Found a mistake in the legal content on the site, in an amount, a deadline or a reference to a section of the law? Write to us at service@flyback.co.il and we will check it.

Questions about the service

Who runs FlyBack?

FlyBack is the trade name of a VAT-registered sole proprietor in Israel. The full details of the legal entity, including the business number and the address for notices, are published in the Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the cancellation page. General contact: service@flyback.co.il.

Is FlyBack a law firm?

No. FlyBack is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. The service is an administrative claim of your rights under Israel's Aviation Services Law: collecting the evidence, writing the demand in the passenger's name, sending it, and tracking the deadlines. If it comes to court, the decision whether and how to go to court is the passenger's.

Where does the flight data come from?

From the public flight board of the Israel Airports Authority, published through the Israeli government's open data portal. We sample it on a regular schedule and save every status change of a disrupted flight as a separate record, which builds an archive of what the official board showed at any given moment.

How do you prove the flight was cancelled?

Every status change the official board showed is saved by us as a separate record, with a timestamp and a file fingerprint that make any later change to the data detectable. The demand sent to the airline comes with an evidence pack holding the chain of records and fingerprints, and each record in it can be verified on its own.

How much does it cost?

26% plus VAT (18%), and only if compensation was actually received. Nothing upfront, and nothing to pay if no money came in. The compensation goes into a dedicated FlyBack business bank account. We deduct the fee and transfer the balance to you within 7 business days. If no compensation is received, you pay nothing.

What happens to my data?

Your data is kept only to handle your case, and the signed documents are available to you on your case page. The full details, including how long we keep data and your right to see and delete it, are in the Privacy Policy. Privacy questions: privacy@flyback.co.il.
