Your rights after flight SK3188, delayed 2-5 hoursSAS · Zurich ✈ Tel Aviv · 20 Aug 2026
SAS flight SK3188 (Zurich ✈ Tel Aviv) on 20 Aug 2026 was recorded with a delay of 5-8 hours. A delay like this does not, on its own, give the fixed monetary compensation set by Israeli law, but if you gave up the flight because of the delay, you may be entitled to a refund of the ticket price or an alternative ticket, and to assistance (food, communication, and sometimes accommodation) depending on the circumstances. In addition, EU Regulation 261/2004 appears to apply to this route, which provides €400 per passenger, subject to the circumstances. We check both laws and claim under the route that gives more, with no double compensation for the same loss.
🇪🇺 EU Regulation 261/2004 also applies to this flight
This route falls under EC 261/2004. The regulation provides fixed compensation of €400 per passenger, as an additional route alongside Israeli law, subject to the circumstances of the flight.
There is no double compensation for the same loss: we check both laws and pick the route that gives more.

What is due for a 5-8 hour delay?
A 5-8 hour delay does not, on its own, give the fixed monetary compensation in the law. What you do have: if you gave up the flight because of the delay, a choice between a full refund and an alternative ticket; and for all passengers, assistance according to the waiting time (food and drinks, phone calls, and accommodation and transport if the flight moved to the next day). Keep receipts for every expense.

Frequently asked questions
Is SAS exempt if it notified passengers in advance?
The law exempts the airline from monetary compensation if it notified the passenger at least 14 days before the flight, or later with an alternative flight within certain time windows. The date of the notice you received is what decides this.
How long does the airline have to pay?
Under the law, compensation a passenger is entitled to is paid within 45 days of the written demand. We track that deadline and follow up if it passes.
What does it cost to claim through FlyBack?
Nothing upfront. We charge a success fee only if compensation is actually received, as set out in the agreement before you sign.
How far back can I claim?
You can claim for flights from the last 4 years, counted from the flight date (the limitation period). Where there is entitlement and a written demand was filed, monetary compensation is to be paid within 45 days, and a ticket refund within 21 days.

The information on this page: general information, not advice. Nothing here states that a specific passenger is or is not owed compensation. Actual eligibility depends on the circumstances of the flight, when the notice was given, the alternative offered and the evidence, and it is decided by the airline or by a court.
The amounts shown are the fixed amounts set in the law by distance. They are not an amount that was awarded, approved or will be paid. Flight data is based on the public flight board of the Israel Airports Authority as it appeared at the time it was recorded, and the binding text of the law is the one published in the official gazette (Reshumot).
